Thank you to everyone who helped on my campaign, we didn’t get the result we wanted.  We will use this time to reflect on what went wrong and what we could have done better.

Simon Letts

Your Southampton Itchen Labour Parlimentary Candidate

Simon has lived in Southampton all his adult life. He is a secondary school science teacher who has worked in local schools for over twenty years. His partner Carolyn is a physiotherapist who works in a local NHS community team. He has two children both of whom were educated in city schools.

Simon served as a Councillor for eighteen years including five as Leader ending in 2018. During his period of Leadership he guided the council through vicious Tory Austerity whilst continuing to invest in vital services. The City developed considerably during this period and the Council under his Leadership ensured this growth benefited local people.

Simon fought the Southampton Itchen seat in 2017, slashing the Tory majority to 31. He was pleased to campaign on the radical manifesto that Labour put before the electorate. His political priorities are our local NHS, housing, education, employment rights, infrastructure investment, particularly public transport and climate change.

Like you, Simon knows that Southampton has been starved by the Conservatives of the resources it needs to support its residents. There have been cuts to vital public services like our NHS, where we have seen the only out of hours facility on our side of the city close. There have been cuts to policing with no Police station available to residents who live in the East of the city.

Simon has the experience, tenacity and ability to represent you and our city in parliament and give Southampton Itchen the committed MP it so badly needs. An MP who will stand up for all parts of our community and use the tools of public policy to help change your life for the better.
